Architecture examines the conditions of the human
body and its interaction with the physical world.
Yet our experience is affected by things that are
not seen – traces.
Trace brings forth hidden facts, atmosphere,
quality, etc. to a community, site or city that
produces a unique opportunity to design something
special to a site.
My interest lies within historical traces. History
should be celebrated and honoured through design,
but should also be questioned. History is something
dynamic in which truth can be covered, twisted,
lost. Two truths which oppose each other can happen
at the same time.
This portfolio is an exercise in taking historical
traces and using it to define the present and future
of the site.
